Many agencies are now seeking to promote the use of Helium in gas mixtures used by divers going beyond 30m. Helium has the advantage of reducing inert gas narcosis and enabling divers to be better at problem solving at depth- this is especially useful in an emergency situation.

The Advanced Recreational Trimix - TRIOX course is designed to extend the diver’s knowledge in the use of Trimix for Sport diving. This is a great course for UK diving as its teaches the essential skills for both decompression diving and using trimix in depths of up to 48m.

Similar to the advanced nitrox course, the course is run over 4 days, with the first day covering the basic theory for the course, with the second day containing a mixture of theory, planning and skill development workshops. Day three and four involve steadily deeper depths and the use of Trimix, putting into practice new skills which help the diver to become more familiar with their equipment and configuration.

Upon completion of the course divers are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 48msw and perform accelerated decompression stops using enriched nitrox mixtures of upto 100% 02.

A substantial amount of the course is aimed at developing the necessary skills and procedures for decompression diving.
